As you know, we are fast approaching the presentation of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, the new major version of Apple’s mobile operating system for iPhones and iPads (as well as tvOS 16 and HomePodOS 16 variants). While the month of June is systematically the witness of the first beta distributed to developers, Apple would have completed the design phase of the next version.
iOS 16 is finished, time for corrections
We spotted the tweet from the very knowledgeable Majin Bu who states that the Cupertino company has just finalized the design phase of iOS 16 and is preparing to release the first beta to its internal teams:
Today the final design phase of iOS 16 is over and the first internal betas will be available (for Apple internal use only)

iOS 16 release date?
Good news which does not bring much in the end, but which allows us to be reassured about the calendar which had been disrupted during the COVID crisis with up to two weeks lag compared to the usual keynote dates. WWDC 2022 should still be held at a distance this year, but most certainly from June 7, 2022 according to our calculations. The first beta of iOS 16 will be released immediately to developers, accompanied by iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, watchOS 9 and macOS 13.
Let’s recall the list of devices compatible with iOS 16.
What’s new for iOS 16?
The novelties have not yet filtered apart from a customizable dark mode in Safari or floating windows on iPad, but it could be that Apple finally offers a change in design with a style close to macOS 11 and macOS 12, the neumorphism.
The June 2022 keynote would also be the opportunity to present new Mac M2s as well as the long-awaited mixed reality headset.
