Apple has accounted for 36% of tablet sales in the first quarter of 2024 and continues to be a leader in the sector
The data collected in the latest study of the Canalys research platform show that Apple’s iPad has lost a lot of strength during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. The company has lost a large percentage of iPad market share but continues to lead by a wide margin.
Just a couple of days away from the May 7 special event at which new iPad models will presumably be unveiled, Apple announced its fiscal second-quarter results with a 16.64% drop in revenue relating to sales of iPad products.
This is something logical and natural considering that Apple did not present any new iPad model throughout 2023. Below we take a look at tablet sales from Apple and other manufacturers in the first quarter of 2024.
The tablet market rises 1% with sales of 33.7 million units
Canalys reports that Global tablet sales have increased “modestly” by 1% compared to the same period last year. The first quarter of 2024 has generated sales figures of 33.7 million tablets and all this despite the fact that the iPad’s market share has dropped considerably.

Besides, In the first quarter of 2024, Apple sales have decreased by up to 36%. Still, the iPad continues to lead the tablet market. Samsung has maintained a 20% market share and in third place is Huawei with 8% of sales, according to Canalys data.
