Apple TV+ today announced it has landed “Hijack,” a new seven-part thriller starring SAG winner and Emmy nominee Idris Elba. According to what we discovered in the series Luther and who is also doing the voiceovers in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, will also be an executive producer. This is the first project resulting from the priority agreement concluded by Idris Elba with Apple TV+ and his company Green Door Pictures.
A tense thriller around a plane hijacking
Told in real time like a certain 24 hour clock, “Hijack” is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane to London during a seven-hour flight, while authorities on the ground seek to understand what is going on. Elba will play the role of Sam Nelson, an accomplished business negotiator who must be proactive and cunning in an attempt to save the lives of passengers – but his high-risk strategy could spell his downfall.
The series is written by George Kay (“Lupin,” “Criminal”) and will be directed by Jim Field Smith (“Criminal,” “The Wrong Mans”), who will both also serve as executive producers alongside Elba, Jamie Laurenson. , Hakan Kousetta and Kris Thykier. “Hijack” will be produced by 60Forty Movies and Idiotlamp Productions in association with Green Door.
The series will premiere alongside a growing offering of thrillers coming to Apple TV+, including the recently renewed and critically acclaimed “Severance” from director and executive producer Ben Stiller, as well as ” Shining Girls”, the new metaphysical thriller based on a bestselling novel, “Disclaimer”, a new series of psychological thrillers from multiple Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA winner Alfonso Cuarón, and much more.
