Apple patents technology that will change the way we pair our Apple Watch bands
Have you ever wondered if it would be possible for your Apple Watch to change its design automatically depending on the strap you are using? Well now it’s a reality! Apple has received the approval for a patent that allows the Apple Watch bands have an integrated NFC modulewhich in turn can communicate with the watch NFC chip. This technology would allow the Apple Watch identify which band is connected and, from there, change your UI dynamically.
The idea is that watchOS can adjust the current cover design to better match the color of the new strap or completely change the watch faces. There is also the option of switch between different apps when pairing a specific band, which could greatly improve the user experience.
The official report of Patent Apple of the USA has made it clear that, in the event of detecting an unauthorized band, the device will provide a warning and/or disable or modify one or more features of the watch.
Upon determination that a band that is attached to the device is not an authorized band, a warning may be provided using an output component of the device and/or one or more features of the device may be disabled or modified.
In addition, the patent also describes a system in which the band components are used to detect and transmit user-related informationsuch as your location, physical activity, heart rate, gestures, and other biometric data.
Band components may include, as examples, one or more sensors (eg, environmental sensors, biometric sensors, gesture sensors, inertial sensors, or the like), processing circuitry, additional communications circuitry, input components, components audio and/or haptic output, a battery, and/or one or more display components.
This information may be processed and used for a variety of purposes, such as monitoring health and physical activity, providing personalized alerts and notificationsand increase the efficiency and effectiveness of electronic applications and devices.
While it’s always important to remember that not all patents become actual features, this new technology would allow Apple crack down on unauthorized gangs.
Additionally, the company likely has security measures in place to prevent malicious use of its technology, such as user authentication and the data encryption.
As you will see, the patent could have beneficial and useful uses, but it could also be used in a harmful way. However, open a wide range of possibilities for Apple Watch and its ecosystem of accessorieswhich will undoubtedly increase brand loyalty on the part of users.
