Tech News Desk,To curb digital fraud, the government has suspended 70 lakh mobile numbers due to suspicious transactions. Financial Services Secretary Vivek Joshi said banks have also been asked to strengthen systems and processes to prevent the rise in digital payment frauds. He said there will be more meetings on issues related to financial cyber security and the next meeting is scheduled for January. Joshi also spoke on issues related to Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) fraud. He said states have been asked to look into the issue and ensure data security.
It is important to raise awareness about fraud
According to Joshi, one way to prevent cyber fraud is to create awareness about it so that innocent customers can be protected from being cheated. According to news agency PTI, the meeting was attended by senior officials of the Department of Economic Affairs, Department of Revenue, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and National Payments Corporation of India. Recently, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said there is a need to create awareness among people about cyber fraud to ensure people’s safety and prevent scammers from gaming the system. Sitharaman was referring to popular scams where cyber fraudsters dupe people through phone calls or SMS.
