All that content downloaded through Google Chrome or any other browser ends up going to the same route, that is, the “Downloads” folder. This is the same both at Xiaomi and the Asian tech giant Redmi and POCO’s own subdivisions. However, this location is not definitive and the user can easily establish one at will in order to have the files more at hand.
Change the download path on Xiaomi
Under normal circumstances, the vast majority of users are fully aware of how to access this folder, although there may be individuals who are unfamiliar with this fact. For this reason, it is worth briefly explaining where is it located the content downloaded through the browser.
- The first thing is to open the Xiaomi file manager, whose icon represents a folder.
- Once inside, select shared internal storage.
- Swipe until you find the “Downloads” folder.
This is the usual location, although it is subject to change to indicate another folder as the place to go. The purpose of this possibility is that the decision of the organization rests with the user. The problem is that not all mobile phones from the Chinese company allow you to make the change through the “Downloads” application, but some have to go to the browser settings to do so.
Modify the location from the browser
Most of the users use Google Chrome as default browser. That is why we are going to explain the process from this application, although the procedure does not vary at all and usually coincides in all of them.
- Open the Google Chrome app and tap on the three vertical dots in the upper right area.
- In the small drop-down menu, click on the “Downloads” option.
- When you’re inside, select the cogwheel at the top.
- Choose “Location of downloads” and choose the new position.
Modify the location with MIUI
When it comes to downloading files to your Xiaomi, you may have at your disposal a configuration that is more accessible than the previous one, but that ultimately offers the same solution and in an almost identical way. Not all smartphones in the company’s catalog have this option, since a specific MIUI version is required as a minimum.
- Find the “Downloads” app on the home screen of your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone.
- Inside, click on the three points that appear again at the top of the screen.
- In this section there should be a setting to change the download path.
As you can see, both are very similar and simple processes. Either of the two methods works for you and you do not lose anything by opting for one or the other, since the purpose is the same.
