Although Apple has never officially allowed changing app icons on iOS through the Shortcuts app, anyone can create a shortcut represented by a custom icon that opens a specific app. This process has the disadvantage of displaying a huge banner each time the user touches the icon to let the user know that a task has been completed. But the iPhone 14 Pro and its Dynamic Island make working with custom app icons much more seamless.
An improvement for customization
As explained by the designer Parker Ortolani, shortcuts with custom icons no longer display a large banner at the top of the screen, at least on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This is because, on these models, iOS now displays a small animation in the Dynamic Island to confirm that the shortcut was executed successfully.
Previously, the banner also caused a delay in the user’s interaction time with the app. This delay has now been removed. Unfortunately, this change is only valid for iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users. Those with other iPhone and iPad models still have to deal with the banner when opening a Home screen shortcut with a custom icon.
For the record, the experience had been improved with the arrival of iOS 14.3. Home screen shortcuts no longer open the Shortcuts app before launching the app you set. A substantial gain for users who took great pleasure in creating themes by combining widgets and icons. Of course, changing app icons in iOS still takes a lot of effort compared to Android.
Custom app icons are actually great now on the 14 Pro. Just a small dynamic island animation and there’s no delay to start swiping! pic.twitter.com/7aDSTgsdlR

Who has already created an iPhone theme, or at least changed app icons? Recall that your iSoft application offers alternative icons for premium members, but this is a native function offered by Apple to developers which is different from the topic of the day.
