Earthquake: Orange makes calls and SMS to Turkey and Syria free

After the disaster that affected Turkey and northern Syria, Orange is promoting solidarity action by making calls and SMS from France free for ten days.

Orange has decided to make mobile and fixed calls as well as SMS from France to Turkey and Syria free for all its customers for the next few days, until February 21, 2023 more precisely. France and Spain are the first concerned and Belgium will follow in the hours to come. Remember that the same type of measure had been initiated by mobile operators at the start of the conflict in Ukraine.

Rescue is organized thanks to the network

It must be said that after the earthquake of magnitude up to 7.8 on the Richter scale in southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria, communication networks are running at full speed . The families are obviously looking for news of their loved ones on the spot. The emergency services in particular also need the network to act more precisely and efficiently in the emergency areas. Rescuers from neighboring countries such as Moldova or Romania are currently on Turkish territory and benefit from completely free roaming.

In its press release, the Orange group shows its support for the populations and territories affected by this disaster of an unprecedented scale, and indicates that it will renew its actions according to the evolution of the situation.
