Many Apple products have switched to it, including the various MacBooks, but the iPad Pro is the first tablet from Apple – and the only one to date – to integrate the M1 chip. This gain in power is not the only novelty, since the Cupertino company has also added improvements for those who telecommute, which is very useful in this period of pandemic. And if you want to get it today, several models for the 11 inch and 12.9-inch versions are currently on sale.
What is the iPad Pro M1?
- The best tablet on the market
- With great power thanks to M1 chip
- A 120 Hz screen and Mini LED for the 12.9 inch
- And improvements for cameras, speakers and microphones

What is the difference between the 11 inch version and the 12.9 inch version?
The iPad Pro 11 M1 and iPad Pro 12.9 M1 are identical in performance and features, but there’s a big difference – no pun intended. The first iPad Pro is first of all smaller, since it offers an 11-inch diagonal. Its panel is Liquid Retina, with HDR and Pro Motion compatibility up to 120 Hz. It’s excellent to watch, but if you want to enjoy better contrast and more vibrant colors, it is towards the second iPad Pro that ‘you have to turn. Already, the diagonal is 12.9 inches and the on-board technology is Mini LED. It is in fact an improved LCD technology to enhance the colors and promise infinite contrasts, close to those of the OLED, thanks to a backlighting by mini LED (10,000 divided into 2,500 independent zones, according to Apple) which is added to the back of the LCD panel. A sort of second screen which is arranged so as not to light up the black parts and become very bright if necessary.
These are the most powerful iPad Pro ever
The main advantage of these new iPad Pro is obviously the integration of the now famous Apple home processor, the M1 chip, based on an ARM architecture. This is the same that is already found in the new MacBook Pro and Air, Mac Mini and iMac. This configuration brings a considerable power boost, with performance up to 40% faster than the previous generation, which allows it to compete with personal computers. In addition, the iPad Pro now has a Thunderbolt 4 compatible USB-C port, which should ensure even more speed and versatility to the device. The only downside is the autonomy, because it is still estimated at around ten hours, as on the iPad Pro of 2020. The M1 chip, however, works miracles to almost double the endurance of Apple’s laptops, but unfortunately this is not the case with this tablet.
Other innovations are on the program, in particular to facilitate teleworking. The most premium tablets from Apple are now equipped with four speakers of excellent sound quality, which are more compatible with Dolby Atmos, as well as 5 microphones announced as “studio quality”. The magic happens very quickly, with a voice always clear even if the surroundings are not entirely calm around you. There is also the Centered Frame function, very practical, which will allow you to place yourself constantly in the middle of the screen, and even to zoom in or out if necessary. For example, if a person enters the field of view, the camera moves back to allow everyone to see it. All this is possible thanks to an ultra-wide-angle sensor on the front. Behind, we see once again this square block, housing a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 10-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a LiDAR sensor – very useful for augmented reality.
