WhatsApp gives you an option to step verification which adds more security to your WhatsApp account. With Two Step Verification (also known as Two Factor Authentication), you add an extra layer of security to your account in case someone gains access to your device. After setting up two-step verification, when you open WhatsApp on your smartphone, you will need to enter a six-number PIN to access your account.
When you enable Two Step Verification, you have the option to enter your email address. This lets WhatsApp email you a reset link in case you ever forget your PIN, and also helps keep your account secure. If you ever forget your WhatsApp PIN, you can reset it by following these steps. Also, it is important to note here that the process is the same for both iPhone and Android devices.
Reset PIN
- First open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Forgot PIN now? Tap on Options.
- Now tap on Sand Email. Now a reset link will be received on your registered email.
- Now follow and confirm reset link in email.
- Now open WhatsApp app.
- Now tap on Forget PIN.
- Reset PIN now.
You should note that deleting or reinstalling WhatsApp will not disable or reset the PIN for two-step verification. If you have not provided the email address to reset the PIN or you cannot access the email address that is used to reset the PIN in your account, you will be able to reset your Two Step Verification PIN only after seven days. According to WhatsApp, users have no option to extend the 7-day timeframe or disable their account once two-step verification is enabled.
