Good news for users of compatible Pixel smartphones, Google has just updated its Adaptive Charging technology, which no longer requires you to set an alarm to work.
Adaptive Charging, this technology that helps preserve the life of your battery, has just received an important update. For those who don’t know it, it allows your battery to only reach 100% at the exact moment you wake up.
For that, your Pixel was staying at 80% so far and used your morning alarm to determine when to go all out charging so you were ready before you went offline. This feature used to work only when an alarm was set, so the smartphone knew when to finish charging, but that’s no longer the case.

Adaptive Charging no longer needs an alarm to work
9to5Google’s Abner Li found that his Pixel 7 started notifying him that adaptive charging was on and the battery would be full at 7 a.m. Nevertheless, the latter had not programmed an alarm the following morningwhich was one of the conditions to activate the feature.
So Google seems to have updated Adaptive Charging so that it kicks in automatically every night, whether you’ve set an alarm or not. In the description under the dedicated button in the settings, it is noted that the functionality is now based on duty cycle, unlike the limited period that existed before. A simple notification will notify you of the end time of the recharge, and let you deactivate the functionality in one click.
Your Pixel is therefore now much smarter than before, since it will be able to use your habits to preserve the longevity of your battery. Unfortunately, iIt seems impossible to reprogram the functionality yourselfé, that is to say that your smartphone will now be the only one to decide when it should finish recharging.
As of now, it’s unclear whether or not all newer Pixel smartphone users have already received the feature. If you own a Pixel, let us know in the comments if Adaptive Charging has been updated on your device.
