By wanting to highlight Sonic on X (Twitter), Google Play attracted ridicule from Internet users. None of the posts are correct and even the official blue hedgehog account reacted.
Google likes to highlight events or personalities. We often see it on its search engine with the doodles, where the service logo gives way to a graphic creation or even a mini-game with reference to information concerning what is in question. It’s so ingrained in the way Google works that the firm even launched a retrospective during the confinement period in 2020. But sometimes, the tribute takes a much more classic form, for example a thread on X (Twitter).
This is what the account of Google Play a few days ago, featuring a well-known video game character: Sonic the blue hedgehog from Sega. The basic idea, announced in the first post, is amusing. “Sonic, but the lower you go [dans le fil]the older he gets“. Logically, the tweets that follow give pride of place to the different titles featuring the one who was once the rival of Mario. Except that for some reason still unknown, everything said is false. The thread is full of errors.
Google Play is talking nonsense when it wants to talk about Sonic, the official hedgehog account responds
The blunders start from the first post. We see a screenshot described as taken from the game Sonic 8-bit of 1991, namely the adaptation on Master System And Game Gear from the 16-bit version Megadrive released the same year. However the image comes from Sonic 1a mobile game released in 2013. It continues just after, with a screenshot announced as dating from 1993. This is the game Sonic Boom of 2014. To make it short: all posts in the thread have received community ratings in order to correct errors made by the Google Play account.

In the end, even the Sonic the Hedgehog official account replied “what are you doing ?” in the face of so many gross mistakes. At the time of publishing this article, Google has not commented on this subject. Some people think that the entire thread was generated by artificial intelligencepointing in particular to a capture on which we can see attempts to erase characters in the background.
Sonic, but as you scroll he gets older and older
