Can the voice of the assistant be changed?
There are many settings that can be configured from the iPhone to alter the way the Cupertino assistant works, and changing the voice is one of them, although it is also true that it is one of the most limited.
By default, Siri has a female voiceHowever, not everyone prefers the assistant’s default voice. Fortunately, Apple not only allows you to change the gender, but also the accents of both tones of voice to suit your preferences. The bad thing is that you don’t have many options.
You just have to access the wizard settings to change Siri’s voice, something that requires hardly any effort or time on your part, at least on iOS. You just have to follow the steps mentioned below and you will be done even before you know it.
Set up Siri’s voice
When we are faced with the wizard settings, we can change, by default, the voice and accent of the same, but if we change the language we will also be able to alter the way Siri expresses herself.
Voice change
Since iOS 14.5 hit the market, a new voice has been integrated into the American brand’s assistant settings. Instead of always having to put up with Siri with a female voice, a masculine tone was added for those who prefer a man to answer the questions she asks the iPhone.
Changing it is very simple, you just have to follow these steps:
- Open the iPhone Settings app
- Scroll down to Siri options and search
- Select the Siri Voice menu
- choose between Voice 1 (male) and voice 2 (feminine)
accent change
In this section, you can choose from a variety of accents. For example, if your Siri speaks English, you can choose from a list of English-leaning accents, such as American, Australian, British, Indian, Irish, or South African. Yes, as usual the assistant speaks in Spanish, you can configure the Castilian or Mexican accent.
- Open the iPhone Settings app
- Scroll down to Siri options and search
- Select the Siri Voice menu
- choose between Spanish or Mexican variety
Change of language
The last way we have to change Siri’s voice is to alter the language in which you communicate with us. The good thing about this system is that it is not necessary to alter the language of the system and we are only going to change the tone and accent of the assistant when we address him or her.
- Open the iPhone Settings app
- Scroll down to Siri options and search
- Choose Idiom
- Choose one of the many that are displayed on the screen
Can new voices be downloaded?
As with other voice tools we can use the voices of famous people to personalize them even more, with Siri it is not possible to download new voices, at least for the assistant who interacts with us from the iPhone. What you can do is create a series of shortcuts to listen to Siri with other types of accents, but, this will only serve more as a curiosity than as something functional, since the voice of the iOS assistant will not be changed at any time.
There are many Apple users who have taken to the Internet to share their shortcuts to change or modulate the tone of the Apple assistant and, if you want to try it, you just have to have the shortcut app installed. If you don’t have it, download it from this link.
Now, follow the next steps:
- Open the mobile browser, be it Safari or another app, and enter this address: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/6fda525637184dab90da82e85bd2930b
- Click on the Get Shortcut button to get the shortcut
- will open the Shortcuts app and you must click on Add
- Now open the shortcuts app again and go to the menu called My shortcuts
- At the bottom will appear a so-called ‘drunk Siri’
Now all you have to do is click on the 3 dots that appear at the top right of it and edit the text field that appears inside this shortcut and that’s it. Then click on ‘Show more’ to alter some settings of the assistant such as playback speed, tone, language or voice.
This is what will make it possible for us to hear Siri speaking as if she had had 4 too many drinks when we click on the shortcut. If you edit the options of this shortcut you will achieve that Siri speak much faster, slower. with a lower or higher tone.
As you will see, this only serves to use it in a timely manner and to simply reproduce the text that we write in its settings, but it will not alter the voice of the assistant at all when we activate it from the iPhone or similar.
