If we talk about smart speakers, we have to talk about Amazon’s Echo devices, the oldest range on the market with almost 10 years in operation. As the years have gone by, not only has their price dropped, but Amazon has also introduced a large number of additional features in addition to new models with a screen.
In order to get the most out of Amazon’s range of Echo devices, it is an internet connection is required, a very simple process that we can do in a few seconds. If we change the router or operator, in order to continue using the Echo devices, it will be necessary to change the Wi-Fi network to which they are connected, since, otherwise, we will have a nice paperweight.
Depending on whether it is an Echo device with or without a display, the process to change the wireless network it is connected to is different.
Change the Wi-Fi network on an Echo Show
As they have a built-in screen, changing the WiFi network of these devices is a very process. Fast and easy, since we can do it directly from the device. To carry out this task, we must access the configuration options from the main screen by sliding a finger from the top of the screen down.
Next, we click on Setting. Within the configuration options, click on Grid. Seconds later, a list will be displayed with all the 2.4 and 5 GHz wireless networks that are near the device and to which we can connect them. We just have to select it and enter the password. Seconds later, the device will be associated with the new wireless website and we can continue using it as before.
Change the Wi-Fi network on an Echo speaker
While changing the Wi-Fi network of a device from the Echo Show range is a process that we can do directly on the device, when it comes to a speaker, things change since this does not include any type of screen that allows us to interact with the device.
To make this change, we will need to install the Alexa app on our mobile device, a completely free application that we can download through the links that we show below.
Once we have installed the application, we must enter the data of the same account that we are using on Amazon. From the main screen, we go to the bottom and click on Devices. Next, all the devices associated with our account will be shown and where we must click on the one we want to change the Wi-Fi network.
Within the speaker options, click on State and then, in the window shown below, in the section wifi network we click on Change and then click on Join another wifi network.
If we do not want to change the Wi-Fi network from the Echo Show screen that we have, we can use this same application to carry out the process from our mobile phone.
Alexa is also available in the form of an application for Windows, an application that we can download directly from the Microsoft Store through the following link. However, this application does not allow us to modify the settings of any of the Echo devices with Alexa that we have in our home, but rather to enjoy Alexa on our PC.
