Waze can send us some useful event-related traffic alerts that are happening at that moment. For example, yes The Women’s Tour passes by your house and they are going to cut off the road at some point. These advance notices will help you adapt your routes to do it later or change the route. The notices appear like this:
Waze has one of the largest traffic event logs and you can consult them at any time on this websitezooming (or searching) the area you want to search.
The best of all is that you don’t need to open that website and consult them, but rather the application will send us a notification if you consider that this event may affect us. This notification is normally active by default, but you can check if this is the case in Settings > Notifications > Major Traffic Events. Since you are in this section of the configuration, another interesting related alert is the Unusual Traffic Alerts.
While the previous notification will reach us, that, as a notification, in another section of the Waze settings you can adjust the alerts that the application shows you when you are actively using it, that is, when you are on the road.
You can configure this in the section Alerts and warnings settings by tapping Area and choosing the area from which you want the notices to reach us. As standard, it is configured All, which can be a bit excessive if you don’t cover long distances frequently. Instead, you may be more interested in changing the radius to a smaller number of kilometers or directly changing it to only on the road.
Not only can you change the distance of the alerts, but you can also configure in detail What type of alerts do you want Waze to notify you of?playing on Notices. This is useful because there are many types of alerts and it is possible that not all of them interest you. In some of them you can choose separately if you want to see them on the map or be notified of them on the route.
