Requirements to cut a SIM card into nanoSIM or microSIM
As we have mentioned, to cut a SIM card into its smallest formats you don’t need any kind of special machine, but some materials that you probably have at home, such as a permanent marker, a ruler and scissors. With these requirements, you will already have half of the work solved.
Obviously, it is important that you print templates from the microSIM or nanoSIM templates, depending on the one you need, since you do not know the measurements and their shape correctly.
Steps to cut a SIM card
Once you have the necessary resources to cut the SIM card, it is time to come to tell you how you can do it.
- The first thing you should do is place the SIM card inside the template that you have printed so that it matches the silhouette that you want to cut.
- At this point, you can use soft glue or tape to hold it to the paper and keep it from moving.
- Now, you have to place the ruler on the cutting lines to mark the areas that you need to cut. And you can highlight them with the permanent marker.
- Once you have all the lines and measurements established, you will have to separate the SIM card from the paper to cut marks.
- Be very careful not to cut where you shouldn’t. And in this way, you will already have your microSIM or nanoSIM card.
Although if you don’t feel confident enough to cut the SIM card yourself, you can always go to a mobile store, since it usually has the equipment to make these cuts. And, in case you need to do the opposite, convert a nanoSIM to a microSIM or regular SIM, you can buy adapters.
