Checking if the servers are experiencing any problems is very simple, since we only have to access the website where the status of the servers is shown, so, once we have ruled out that the problem resides in our PC, we must work on eliminating or reduce input lag as much as possible.
What is input lag
Input lag is the time that passes from when we press a key on the controller, mouse or keyboard until it is displayed on the screen. This problem occurs in all types of games, both online multiplayer games and single-player games, so, depending on what type of game it is, the solution to reduce input lag is different.
How to reduce it
There is no single method to reduce input lag since it depends on several factors that are not always in our hands.
Connect to a nearby server
In multiplayer games, input lag is directly related to ping. The higher the ping, the higher the server’s response time to our actions.
This is the main reason why online video game developers are forced to offer servers on different continents, since the further the signal has to travel, the response time increases.
If we play in Europe and we want to enjoy a ping of between 20 and 40 ms, we will only achieve it by connecting to servers located on the old continent. If, instead of connecting to a European server, we connect to a server in the United States, the pin will be increased to a minimum of between 80 and 100 ms.
Use Ethernet connection
In relation to the previous point, whenever possible, it is advisable to use a network cable to connect to the router instead of using a wireless device. The main reason is that wireless networks are affected by other wireless signals and elements in the environment, thus reducing the response speed. If the equipment is on the other side of the house, we can use a PLC to solve this problem.
Use wired peripherals
The response latency A wired connection will always be lower than using wireless devices, especially if they are low-end peripherals. We will not find this problem in wireless peripherals from manufacturers such as Corsair, Logitech and Razer, to name the most well-known.
Reduce graphic quality
Another reason that affect input lag In any game it is the graphic quality. Most games since, the greater the graphical load, the card needs more time to process all the information.
In these cases, if we do not know how far we can lower the graphic quality, it is advisable to use the NVIDIA app or AMD and configure the application with the settings suggested by the application for the game, a configuration that is based on both the graphics and the processor and RAM of our computer.
