The new iPhone 14 and 14 Pro have the same button layout as the previous models, which means that taking screenshots is the same as on the iPhone 13 for example (up to the iPhone X in do). However, with iOS 16, there is a new “Copy and Delete” option and we will see how to take a full screenshot on the iPhone 14. A new trick to put in the “Easy iPhone” section.
All about screenshots
The buttons being identical on the iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro, the manipulation remains the same, that is to say press the “Volume +” and “Power” buttons to take a screenshot. But there’s a very useful new menu option for Copy and Delete in iOS 16 to keep screenshots from cluttering up your photo library.
Below, we also walk you through how to take a long or scrolling screenshot without having to download a third-party app on the iPhone 14, plus some options if you want more control.
Normal screenshots and new option
Simultaneously press the side power button and the “volume +” button to take a screenshot (you can also press one immediately after the other).
For 5 seconds, you can tap the screenshot thumbnail in the lower left corner to get more options – if you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to the Photos app.
If you tap “Ok” in the top left corner, you can access the handy new “Copy and Delete” options.
Full Page Screenshots
Thanks to this native option of iOS 16, taking a scrolling screenshot or a long screenshot allows you to obtain a PDF of all (or a selection) of a document, web page, note or email in Apple applications. To enjoy :
- Take a screenshot
- Tap the thumbnail in the lower left corner before it disappears.
- Choose the “Full Page” option in the upper right corner in the submenu (called segmented control by Apple). The “Full Page” option only appears in cases where there is more than one page of content on the screen.
- You can preview all pages before saving them.
- You can also tap the crop icon to edit the part of the full page you want to save.
- Tap the “Ok” button in the upper left corner to save or the “Share” button in the upper right corner.
Third-party apps
Another option for taking scrolling screenshots of content in third-party apps or for more manual control (saving to PNG, etc.) is to use an app like Picsew.
