It is one of the most important novelties of WhatsApp And now we can finally test it. Support for tablets begins timidly in WhatsApp Beta, although it will undoubtedly end up reaching everyone in the not too distant future. We tell you how it works.
1. Install WhatsApp on your tablet
Best of all, you won’t have to do anything unusual, beyond installing a recent version of WhatsApp Beta on your tablet. For now, WhatsApp is still not marked as compatible on Google Play, so you are relegated to install it from its APK.
Having version 2.22.21.6 beta or higher is enough. You can download it for example from APKMirror directly on your tablet, or download it on another device and then send it to the tablet by your favorite method. Install the APK on the tablet and open WhatsApp.
The first thing you will see is the typical WhatsApp welcome screen with the button Accept and continuebut the surprise comes in the next step, where you will see a large QR code and instructions to scan it with the mobile. As indicated, the next step must be done on your mobile.
2. Read the QR code with the mobile
Go back to your Android mobile with WhatsApp and press the menu button ⋮ to then enter Linked Devices. Press Link a device and focus the mobile camera on the tablet screen, to scan the QR code that is displayed.
After scanning the QR code successfully, it will appear in the list of devices (for now without an icon and with a name that doesn’t make much sense). In addition, it will start charging on the tablet.
3. Done
WhatsApp on the tablet will take a few seconds to prepare the messages and then you will be able to see all your WhatsApp conversations on your tablet, just like on your mobile. As with WhatsApp Web, has a little trouble getting old messagesso to consult the history you will have to wait a few minutes.
From this moment you can chat from WhatsApp on your mobile and tablet indistinctly. What you write on your mobile will be shown on your tablet instantly, and you will also be notified on both devices when a new message arrives. The interface is not adapted for tablets yet, but otherwise it works the same as on mobile, but in a big way.
This is the summary of all the steps to use WhatsApp on a tablet and mobile simultaneously, with the official application and without having to keep the mobile on to use it on the tablet:
- Download and install WhatsApp Beta 2.22.21.6 beta or higher on the tablet
-
Open WhatsApp Beta on the tablet and press Continue to display the QR code
-
On mobile, go to Linked Devices and press Link a device
-
Scan the QR code of the tablet with the mobile
-
Wait for your WhatsApp conversations to load on the tablet
How to close the WhatsApp session on the tablet
And what happens when you get tired of using WhatsApp on your tablet? You can close the session as usual, from the application settings, in the section Account > Sign outbut also also you can log out remotelyFrom the phone.
To do so, go to Linked Devices on your mobile and tap on the icon it represents on the tablet, and then press Sign off. As we mentioned before, for now WhatsApp does not seem to have an icon or name ready, so a number and an icon with a question mark are displayed.
