In the market we can find a wide variety of brands, models and prices. However, not all of them are adapted to the needs (neither professional nor economic) of all users. And, if we are looking for the best of the best, at a price accessible to everyone, without a doubt we have to give the new graphics tablets from Huion.
Huion Kamvas Pro: new range of graphics tablets for everyone
Huion has just introduced its new range of professional graphics tablets, accessible to all users. Within this new range we can find several models so that everyone can choose the one that best suits their needs. For example, for the most demanding users we can find a 4K model 24-inch, perfect for all kinds of creations. And underneath we will find two 2.5K resolution models with a size of 13 and 16 inches, for those looking for something smaller and more portable.
Let’s see each of these models in detail.
Huion Kamvas Pro: 24 inches and 4K resolution
This is the most advanced and complete model of all, oriented above all for a professional audience or users who are studying any field related to design and art. This tablet model mounts a 24-inch screen, which offers us a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) with a widescreen aspect ratio (16:9), like a computer screen, and a density of 189 points per inch.
The screen uses QLED technology, thanks to which we can achieve great sharpness and color fidelity in both the lightest and darkest tones. Thanks to it we can achieve 140% of the sRGB color range, or what is the same, exceed the Adobe RGB color range by 15%. In addition, the screen supports HDR to be able to play with this visual improvement and obtain much purer blacks and whites. As an additional feature, the screen has Etched Anti-Glare Glass technology that protects it from scratches and scratches, as well as reduces glare and reflections from natural or artificial light. The screen has an integrated support that will allow us to place it at an angle to be able to draw on it more comfortably. We will also find a VESA mount to anchor it to a monitor arm, and even the possibility of using it with a stand.
The connections that we find in it are two USB type A ports, a USB type C port, an HDMI output to connect it to any screen, and a mini-jack connector for headphones.
In addition to its excellent screen, this model comes with the PenTech 3.0. This is the new model of Huion’s digital pen, which improves stability and response times when drawing on the screen so that the result of our drawing can be seen, almost in real time, on the PC screen.
In addition to the pencil, this model also includes the mini Keydial KD100, a small wireless numeric keypad that we can map however we want to perform all kinds of tasks. Thanks to it, for example, we can always have Photoshop tools at hand without having to search for them in the menus.
In terms of size, we are dealing with a tablet that is 589.2 mm long, 364 mm high and 22.7 mm thick, in addition to weighing about 6.3 Kg, which makes it very difficult to transport.
The price of this digital drawing tablet is 1339 euros. And it includes, in addition to the tablet, the digital pen and the wireless keypad, as well as several replacement tips for the pen.
Kamvas Pro: 16 inches with 2.5K resolution
Below the previous model we find the 16-inch Kamvas Pro (exactly 15.8-inch screen). This model is much more modest so that it can be accessible to any user interested in purchasing a product with these benefits. The first thing we notice is that the screen is smaller (as we have said, 15.8 inches) and, in addition, the resolution is no longer 4K, but is lowered to 2.5K (2560 x 1440 px) with a density of 186 PPI, a contrast of 1200:1 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
The screen of this model is somewhat more modest, since it does not have HDR and “only” we have an sRGB color range of 145%. In addition, it only has a USB type C port and 7 programmable buttons to configure them for the purpose we want. It is also important to note that we do not have to have it always on, but rather it has a way that, turning it off, we can use it as a digitizing tablet on the PC.
The 16-inch Kamvas Pro also includes the PenTech 3.0, the digital touch pen with which we will be able to carry out our designs and also use it with Windows Ink. This model also includes a support that will allow us to place it with the inclination that we want, being able to put it almost vertically.
This model is 436.2 mm long, 247.3 mm wide and 11 mm thick, and weighs 1.28 Kg. As we can see, it is much more portable than its older sister. Its price, too, is much more accessible, being able to get hold of it, and its pencil, for 599 euros, less than half.
Kamvas Pro 13 inch
And finally, we find an even smaller, lighter, more portable and, of course, cheaper model. This model also has a 2.5K resolution, the same as the previous model, but its screen goes from 16 inches to just 13 inches. As the size is reduced, the dots per inch also increase, placing this model at 226 PPI.
All other performance, features and connections are identical to the 16-inch model. After all, we are talking about the same tablet, where only the size of the screen changes.
The size of this model is 373.5 mm long, 229.1 mm high and 10 mm thick. And its weight is only 1 Kg. As we can see, carrying this tablet now always with us is much more comfortable and practical. Its price is only 449 euros, which makes it a perfect entry range for all types of users, since it also includes its PenTech 3.0 pencil.
What is it like to work with them?
Unlike other tablets, which require more configuration to get them up and running, the Huion Kamva stands out for precisely the opposite. And it is that, to start this tablet on the PC, we only need to download its official app (for Android, macOS and Android) and install it on our system. Once installed, we connect the tablet to the computer, open the application and it will automatically connect to it.
From the official application of the tablet we will be able to adjust its operation depending on what we are looking for. For example, we can adjust the default thickness of the pen when we use it on the screen, the pressure we have to do to adjust the thickness, or the behavior of the integrated buttons. If we have the mini-keyboard of the 4K model we can also configure it from this application. We also have several advanced settings for users who need to, for example, change the pointer sensitivity or speed.
Once we have the device configured, we can start working with it. All you have to do is open the drawing program you want (Photoshop, GIMP, Krita, etc.) and, with the pencil, start drawing in it. We will see everything that we are doing reflected at the moment both on the tablet and on the computer screen itself. The programs can also detect the pencil and allow us to make specific configurations.
