Almost a month ago we discussed the new design that Google was bringing to its operating system for smart TVs and media centers equipped with Google TV. A list of devices in which logically, the Chromecast would have to be the first to update.
Since then, both at the user level, for work, I have been checking if the new interface appeared on the Chromecast and what has been my surprise when I have realized that They have overtaken Google on the right and Sony was the first to strike.
Google getting slower
Google has always been characterized by have updates to your operating system before anyone else on your products. In the old Nexus, in the Pixel… It should be normal since it is the same firm, the one behind the hardware and the software. However, we have already seen changes.
Thus, for example, we have recently seen how Samsung has released the March patch for its Android phones earlier, even before Google itself for its Pixels. AND the movement is now repeated on teles.
It has been through a silent update by which Google TV on Sony televisions already sports the new interface. At least that’s what I’ve seen on TV in my living room at home. Changes in the design in which for example the access to the profile now displayed on the left side of the screenleaving the right side for shortcuts to the “Setting” and the “Search”.
For their part, the “Movies” and “Programs” sections are replaced by the tab “For you”, in which you will also find recommended content in the form of series or movies. Next to this, other tabs such as “Live”, “Applications” and “Library”.
With all that said, I’ve been willing to turn the Chromecast back on just in case the update is already available. And to my surprise, this image that you see on this paragraph is what I found. Everything remains the same. Neither the interface has changed nor is there any pending update.
Yes, I know that the updates are deployed progressively, but that other manufacturers overtake Google is increasingly common and not one of its star devices is spared.
For the rest, comment that the update on the TV has been rolled out silentlywithout having to intervene at all, and without the manufacturer being in charge of launching the corresponding patch
