After the official announcement of Apple’s keynote, we already know when we are going to meet the next iPhone 15. But the news will not stop there, nor only on that specific day. A renewal of the AirPods Pro begins to sound stronglyand if what is rumored is confirmed, they will improve substantially.
Over the years, AirPods have become a must-have for many users. Apple has achieved a very good formula to provide sound quality, comfort and functionality, in headphones that have ended up reinventing this concept. And with the arrival of the iPhone 15, this formula will be perfected.
What the iPhone creates, AirPods inherit
The iPhone 15, with the implementation of the USB Type-C port, will set a precedent. Not because it will be the first phone in the world to adopt this connection. But because it will be the first iPhone that will have it.
What was first a 30-pin connector is currently a Lightning connector, which is present in the vast majority of the company’s accessories. Although, USB type C has eaten up a lot of ground, as far as main products are concerned.
Currently, all products in the AirPods range have a Lightning port for charging. Now, it is already beginning to sound strongly that a renewal of the second generation AirPods Pro is coming, and that this product It will follow in the footsteps of the iPhone 15, adopting the USB Type-C connector as a charging socket.
If so, the future AirPods Pro, which we would see in the same keynote on September 12, would be the first of the product family to say goodbye to the Lightning connector. So we would say goodbye to this connector, not only in the iPhone 15 models that may be presented, but also in one of the company’s best-selling headphones.
And where does all this come from? As reported by the English-speaking portal 9to5Mac, Mark Gurman has stated that “in keeping with the new iPhone, Apple will present updated AirPods at the event, which will include a USB-C charging port.”
Would they be renewed AirPods Pro 2? Or would it be the AirPods Pro 3 directly?
In 9to5Mac they comment on this move that Apple could carry out. “AirPods Pro 2 are new enough for this switch to USB-C to take place,” they explain.
“On the other hand, the AirPods 3 are already two years old,” they comment on the situation in which the “younger brother” of the second generation AirPods Pro finds itself.
Regarding the AirPods Max, they comment that this model does need USB type C. But “if the only change was the charging port”, it would not be a good device to buy.
In any case, what we do already know is the date on which we will be able to see these changes materialized, in the event that they occur. And having AirPods Pro with a USB Type-C connector, and which acquire more compatibility with the rest of the cables, could be a winning combination.
