Bad news for Instagram users, you should soon see even more ads in the app than before, as the American giant has introduced new ad formats.
If you thought Instagram was already showing you enough ads, the company disagrees. The Meta-owned app has started testing a few new ad placements aimed at give businesses more ways to be discovered.
From now on, you will find advertising in the search results, which was not the case until now. When you search for a particular term on the app, such as “smartphones”, posts marked “sponsored” related to technology will now show up in the feed which you can scroll through when you tap on one of the results.

Instagram has found another place to stall advertising
In addition to ads in search results, Instagram is also rolling out so-called “reminder ads”. These will be visible as a push notification, which will remind you of an upcoming event or an important date.
The good news is that unlike ads in search results, reminder ads are optional. You will only receive them if you agree to receive a reminder for an event, which usually arrives on your smartphone 15 minutes before or at the exact time.
Instagram says the change is only a test for now, but the company plans to launch the new placement globally “in the coming months” if it proves successful. This launch will likely be an unwelcome addition to the app from a consumer perspective., as it introduces even more ads than before. This is not the first time that the social network has tried to add new advertisements to its application, since last year it was your profile that saw advertisers arrive.
For the company, however, this addition seems essential, since Meta has recently seen a drop in advertising sales. As part of its results for the fourth quarter of 2022, Meta revealed its ad revenue fell to $31.2 billioncompared to $32.6 billion in the same quarter a year earlier.
