The reason is none other than the nature of each of these social networks. While the former was born with the explicit intention of benefiting this type of content, the latter has simply become one more means of distributing it, a situation that for many reasons (including the level of use among young audiences) can be a greater problem.
That is why in recent years we have seen endless updates that seek to eradicate the practice of sharing, publishing or storing content that may be sensitive or explicit. Now, it is Instagram that, apparently, wants to take an important step in this regard.
Although the social network has been imposing restrictions on sexual or erotic content shared publicly for some time now, everything indicates that these limitations are yet to come to its direct message function.
At least that is what a recent report shared by the developer has revealed. Alessandro Paluzziwho from his social networks has echoed a function that will allow users to block content about nudity that can be sent to him through direct messages through Instagram.Under the name of Nudity Protection, it is a new configuration that users could activate to block and avoid seeing sexual content received through a direct message.

Occasionally, according to the images shared by Paluzzi, once Instagram detects and hides an image with these characteristics, it will send a notification to the user indicating that they have received an image that contains or may contain nudity, offering a button to in case, if desired, to be able to access the content.
As has been said, this option would be optional and it would be up to users to activate it or not, although it is not clear if for those underage subscribers, said configuration would be activated by default.
At the moment, it is unknown when the “nudity protection” will start working on Instagram; however, it stays in line with what other platforms like Apple’s iMessage are already in place.
