Apple has changed its mind and after several years iOS shows the battery percentage in the iPhone status bar again.
With the arrival of the iPhone X and the notch, Apple made a series of changes in iOS to accommodate the status bar icons to the small space left on the sides of the cutout. and one of the main victims was the percentage of battery, which disappeared at a stroke. However, it is going to make a triumphant return in iOS 16.
While there are several ways to quickly see your iPhone’s battery percentage, none of these ways are a substitute for an ever-present number next to the battery. And, for some unknown reason, Apple has decided to return the battery percentage to the iPhone status bar with iOS 16and we appreciate it.
How to turn on battery percentage on iPhone
As we say, it is an exclusive feature of iOS 16, activated in the fifth beta of Apple’s operating system. Although it is something that will be present in the final version of the system that is released to all users in mid-September.
The new way of showing the battery percentage in the iPhone status bar has changed, now appearing inside the icon and not next to it. To activate the battery percentage on your iPhone with iOS 16 you must follow these steps:
- Go into the Settings of your iPhone.
- Now go to the Battery section.
- Activate the first option: Battery percentage.
When you activate this feature, the battery icon changes and instead of showing a full or empty battery shows the full battery with a number indicating the percentage the iPhone has left. When you activate the Low consumption mode, the battery percentage will be automatically activated showing the icon in yellow.
Likewise, if you’re charging the iPhone, you’ll see the percentage inside the battery icon with a small charging icon next to it. So the battery icon will change depending on the moment. For now, even if you don’t turn it on, you can still see your battery percentage by swiping down in Control Center.
In iOS 16 beta 5, the option to display battery percentage in the status bar not available on iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini. We do not know if it is due to a resolution and screen size problem or if this compatibility will be expanded in future versions.
