The day has come, as Apple had promised, the new versions of its operating systems are now available to everyone. On the one hand, iOS/iPadOS 16.1 arrive on the iPhone and iPad respectively with some new features. In the case of the Apple tablet, it is the update that brings with it Stage Manager as an exclusive novelty for some of the most recent models, and for both, comes iCloud Shared Library and Live Activities.
All this along with expected bug fixes and improvements in the general stability of the system, much needed, especially in the case of the iPhone, where the SIM error persisted in some of the models, something quite annoying. However, although the iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch receive their updates, the highlight of the day is the arrival of macOS Ventura.
The operating system for Macs is finally available after a few months in beta (since WWDC), and also brings to Macs the Stage Manager, compatibility with all the improvements of iOS 16 (such as the use of the unique password in notes). All coupled with a ton of new functionality.
macOS Ventura is now available to everyone
And in general, a new look to some parts of the system, such as the Settings app (System Preferences), which now happens to be like the one on the iPhone and iPad. Also new apps like Time or Clock come to the Mac, although they are minor additions.
However, macOS Ventura is not available for teams. The compatibility list this year is somewhat more limited, so before upgrading, make sure your Mac is compatible, otherwise it won’t let you upgrade. This is the full list:
- Mac (2017 and newer)
- iMac Pro
- MacBook Air (2018 and later)
- MacBook Pro (2017 and later)
- Mac Pro (2019 and later)
- Mac mini (2018 and later)
- MacBook (2017 and later)
As usual, make a backup of your Mac before launching to update the equipment. And if it’s a Mac you use for work, before upgrading, make sure all professional software you use is compatible. Otherwise, our recommendation is to wait a few weeks before upgrading.
iPadOS 16.1, iOS 16.1, watchOS 9.1, and macOS Ventura are available as an OTA update through system settings.
