iOS 16, which is now officially available, comes with a handful of interesting new features. Among them, the possibility of completely customizing the lock screen, new features in iMessage and, interestingly, the return of the battery percentage in status bar. This function, however, has not been available on some compatible iPhone models during the different betas of the new version of iOS and, unfortunately, it will not be available in the final version, as confirmed by Apple itself.
Apple’s support page, which shows information on how to view battery percentage on different iPhone models, details that iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini do not support this featuredespite the fact that they can update to iOS 16 and also receive the rest of the new version’s new features, such as the feature that allows you to crop a subject in the Photos app or the ability to delete messages in iMessage.
All other models compatible with iOS 16, such as iPhone X, Xs and Xs Max, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, can turn on battery percentage. To do this, you need to access Settings > Battery and activate the option called ‘Battery percentage’.
How to see the battery percentage if your iPhone does not support the new feature of iOS 16
Although it is not as intuitive as seeing the battery percentage in the status bar itself, there is a way to see what the real capacity is on those iPhone models that are not compatible with the new iOS 16 feature. simple is swiping from the top right corner to access the control center. There, next to the battery icon, the percentage will appear. It is also possible to add a widget on the home screen that indicates the battery level.
On the other hand, if you have a iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or an iPhone SE 2nd gen. and 3rd gen, you must bear in mind that the models, by not including a notch, already show the battery percentage in the status bar. Therefore, it is not necessary to activate any additional functions.
