Apple adds 8 Macs to its list of “old” computers
Here is the full list of Mac models that have recently gone “old”:
- MacBook (12″, Early 2016)
- MacBook Air (13″, Early 2015)
- MacBook Pro (13″, Early 2015)
- MacBook Pro (13″, 2016, 2 Thunderbolt Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13″, 2016, 4 Thunderbolt Ports)
- MacBook Pro (15″, 2016)
- iMac (21.5″, Late 2015)
- iMac (27″, Retina 5K, Late 2015)
Apple considers a product to be old when it was released between 5 and 7 years ago. These devices can still be repaired in after-sales service… but within the limits of the stocks of spare parts available. Beyond this period, the product becomes obsolete. In this case, exit hardware repairs. These devices are also likely to become incompatible with the latest versions of macOS or iOS for iPhones for example.
In addition to Macs, iPods, iPhones and iPads, Apple also includes Beats products deemed too old in this list. Note also in passing that if your Mac or other Apple device / accessory no longer works, it is quite possible to return it to the firm so that it can be recycled.
