Fans of Spanish cinema are in luck, because this week the new RTVE channel ‘Somos Cine’, dedicated to Spanish cinema. It will not join La 1, La 2, Canal 24 Horas and Teledeporte on DTT, but from the public entity they have decided to bet on a more modern format.
Specifically, this new channel dedicated to some of the best nationally produced films will form part of the streaming platform RTVE Playwhich continues to expand its catalog in a 100% free plan.
New channel Somos Cine on RTVE Play
This week the Somos Cine channel was launched, which is broadcast every day from 4:00 p.m. and lasts until midnight. During these 8 hours of broadcasting, the RTVE Play channel Somos Cine broadcasts thrillers, action movies, comedies, dramas or romances and unforgettable classics from among more than 300 titles that make up its film catalog.

Goya Awards special programming
This new channel has the peculiarity that each day the program revolves around a different theme which is disclosed in advance. For example, in this opening week, as it coincides with the 37th edition of the 2023 Goya Awards, we will see some of the award-winning films in this contest.
- Thursday the 9th is the day for first films, such as ‘A thief’s daughter’, ‘In exchange for nothing’, ‘10,000 km’ or ‘The wound’.
- Friday the 10th looks at the work of the performers with films awarded for their performance, such as ‘You will not kill’, ‘Sentimental’, ‘Ane’, ‘The author’ or ‘Magical Girl’.
- On Saturday the 11th, the day the Goya Awards are held, it will be dedicated to films that have won awards for best film, such as ‘Las niñas’, ‘Campeones’, ‘Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados’, ‘Truman’ or ‘La bookshop’.
- On Sunday 12 the week of the Goya Awards closes with films with a look at the rural world, such as ‘El olivo’, ‘O que arde’, ‘Outdoors’ or ‘El abuelo’.
