Jeep, at last, will have a fully electric model. Here are the keys to knowing a model that will be located in segment B.
The electric car market is going from strength to strength or, at least, this is the impression when seeing how more and more brands are betting on battery-based technology. Throughout the current catalog, we can find cheap models, which they can have very interesting pricesand, on the other hand, options designed for high representation, in which luxury takes over the interior and exterior.
Making the leap to the electric car market is not easy. In fact, it is very likely that if only one variant is offered, it will only serve to justify the possibility of continuing to sell cars. Yes, that’s the rules in today’s industry. Jeep is a manufacturer that, if you look at the current range of cars it offers, you will not see a purely electric model anywhere. It is true that there are plug-in hybrid variants, signed under the name 4xebut not a variant without an internal combustion engine.
It seems that Jeep will finally bet on the introduction of an exclusively electric model. In addition, it will do so with a body directly located in the B segment. This is a very important step for one of the most lagging companies in terms of innovation within the Stellantis group. This move is expected to allow the company to catch up. Here are the keys to what is known in relation to this future model designed, mainly, for its performance in the city.
Jeep will compete in the electric segment through a model located in segment B
Contrary to what happened in the past with manufacturers that opted for electric technology, Jeep will get fully involved in sustainable mobility by producing one of its cheapest cars in its range. In fact, it is speculated that this model, which does not yet have an official name, could be the successor to the Renegade. To what extent are we facing a product designed for the city? Belonging to segment B gives the vehicle a short body.
If to this we add the presence of an electrical mechanic, we obtain a vehicle with a great capacity to push in the city. According to the information from Hybrids and Electrics, it could follow in the footsteps of other Stellantis variants, such as the Peugeot e-2008, Citroën ë-C4 or Opel Mokka-e. As you can see, it will be a particularly urban vehicle with which it will be possible to circulate discontinuously beyond the urban area.
According to the available information, we are facing a vehicle that will have 100 kW of power (about 136 hp). In terms of battery, it will have a total set of 50 kWh, enough to allow circulation up to a total of 350 kilometers. It is, therefore, a very interesting proposal if you practice purely urban driving, since you will hardly have to charge the vehicle once a week.
We will still have to wait a few months to know more details about this particular model. Meanwhile, it can be anticipated that its price will be clearly below 40,000 euros. In addition, a change in the technology used in terms of battery is not ruled out, since we are facing a model that could come with a more modern and accessible solution. Obviously, it will not be the best-selling model on the market, but it will be able to position itself as a somewhat more attractive option than the alternatives mentioned above.
