Google launches a Chromecast with Google TV (HD). It’s exactly the same HDMI key as the one released in 2020, but capped at HD quality and therefore deprived of 4K. This results in a more contained price.
The same cheaper and a little less sophisticated. That’s more or less what one could say to sum up the new Google Chromecast with Google TV (HD). It is indeed very similar to the previous model released two years ago. However, the Google Chromecast with classic Google TV of 2020 allows you to enjoy 4K. Its 2022 little brother, as the name suggests, is capped at HD video quality.
In its tweet presenting the new HDMI dongle to connect to a TV, Google France does not bother with a long presentation.
It couldn’t be simpler, since it’s as simple as that.

The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) therefore allows you to enjoy your SVoD applications on your television. Even if it means pushing open doors, it should be noted that this new accessory continues to rely on the Google TV experience and is thus accompanied by a remote control. You can also still cast content from your smartphone to the TV via the classic Chromecast function.
Emphasis is also placed on thepersonalized content recommendations», the native presence of Google Assistant and the possibility of controlling the Nest home automation devices in your home from your TV. Note also that this new HD model is based on Android 12.
Price of Chromecast with Google TV (HD)
The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is already available in France. Its official price is 39.99 euros. This is 30 euros less than the recommended price for the 4K version.
Remember that this product had already been leaked recently. On the other hand, its price remains a good surprise since it does not exceed the launch price of the Chromecast 2 which arrived in 2015. In the very inflationary context that we are going through, it is good to take.
