The Orion capsule is filled with color with the party mode of the NASA aircraft.
A few weeks ago, and after much expectation and delays, NASA started with its anticipated return to the Moon: the artemis mission. This new adventure of the Space Agencies wants return humans to the moonand it will be the first time that a woman and a black person travel to our satellite.
The team responsible for meeting the objectives of the mission travel aboard the Orion spacecraft, from which we have already seen some overwhelming photographs of the Moon.
However, when the astronauts hired by NASA have had enough of scientific work on Orion, the ship itself can become a disco for the crew to party. Recently, Lockheed Martin Space (the company responsible for the construction of most of the ship) shared a video on social networks showing the operation of Orion’s “party mode”.
Any time you fly to the Moon, it’s a celebration. Over the weekend, we put on a show for @NASA_Orion‘s purposeful passengers using our #callisto tech demo! 🎉🥳@alexa99party mode!
Bonus: Sound on to hear the ambience of Orion’s interior as it travels in deep space. 🔊 pic.twitter.com/ZdEkZHuli8

If you have played the video with sound you will hear the voice command “Alexa, Party Mode”, but Amazon technology is not the only one that has a key role in this NASA mission. alexa it’s just a piece inside Callisto, the control system that NASA is testing on this new aircraft. This technology aims to help astronauts in all kinds of tasks inside the spacecraft, it’s like a HAL 9000 for all those movie lovers who understand the reference.
Astronauts can activate party mode with voice commands to Alexa
In this case, we can see that the system use Alexa as an assistant by voice commands, which fills the cabin with flashing colored lights. And as a curiosity, what you see on screen is not one of the astronauts on boardis a test dummy that NASA has baptized with the name of “Commander Moonikin Fields”. Of course, in Space Agency missions it is clear that humor can not be missing.
Orion’s first voyage to study the surroundings of the Moon and complete the first phase of Artemis is about to end. The ship is scheduled to return to Earth on December 11 to collect the information obtained and plan the next step. We still don’t know what NASA’s plans are from now on, but the first sensations they transmit is that this first contact has been a success.
