The new policy of the platform that consists of the prohibition of sharing Netflix accounts has caused an avalanche of criticism and a massive loss of subscriptions in different countries where this new measure has been implemented camouflaged by the extra member function. As a temporary solution, since Netflix prices have dropped in some Latin American countriesand if everything continues like this, prices will also drop in Spain.
Netflix is suffering a constant barrage of criticism on social networks from users dissatisfied with the new policy in Spain and other Latin American countries. In fact, the company even went so far as to threaten to block user accounts that logged in at another location. The rejection of the Spanish population in the face of what they describe as “deception and abuse” by Netflix is absolutely brutal. Every tweet and every post is immediately boycotted by users, many of whom have unsubscribed. For this reason, it is very likely that the Netflix price drop will also reach Spain.
Netflix lowers prices in Latin America and other countries
We are facing an unprecedented situation. Very few times in history has a company related to the technology industry suffered so much rejection from its own subscribers. The economic losses must be brutal. But, instead of lifting the ban on account sharing, Netflix seems intent on sticking with its policy and simply cutting prices.
Netflix has announced to its users that the platform will proceed to reduce the prices of the monthly rate in Latin American countries and other regions. In his statement, according to reports from xatakathe company indicated that they are aware that “Your subscribers have more entertainment options” than evermaking indirect reference to Disney +, HBO Max or Amazon Prime Video, among others.
One of the main criticisms of Netflix users who have decided to cancel their subscription resides precisely in the offers with more attractive prices from other streaming platforms.
Netflix’s new primary location setting policy comes as the platform lost more than 200,000 subscribers for the first time in a decade in the first quarter of 2022. Now, the company has been forced to lower its prices in the face of massive subscription cancellation on an international level. A strategy they probably should have thought of before.

Netflix could also reduce prices in Spain
Now we will only have to wait to see if the Netflix price reduction also ends up affecting Spain. Everything seems to indicate yes, since the first Latin American countries to receive “the new Netflix policy” and stopped sharing passwords outside the main location –also Canada– They have already seen how their prices have dropped.
Let’s hope Netflix doesn’t just cut the price of the “Extra Members” feature –which allows sharing passwords in secondary locations– and that price reductions in Spain are available in all plans. Be that as it may, we will keep you informed on this matter. In an ideal world, the duty of the streaming company would be to come forward, apologize, cancel its policy and offer a price reduction as compensation to its users.
