The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona has left very good feelings this year. Despite the fact that product launches are scarce, beyond companies like realme or Xiaomi, there are other corners to enjoy new technological solutions.

For 4 days, until 88,500 people attended to an event in which, undoubtedly, one of the most important sections is to establish solid relationships and take a look at the latest developments.

However, this technology fair cannot be visited in a single day. Otherwise, you would be missing out on a lot of standswhere some businesses offer experiences that would surprise even the most tech-savvy.

So, since the previous editions the fair has changed substantiallyLittle by little, solutions from other sectors are being added to the mobile ecosystem, such as the automotive industry or viewers to access the metaverse or, directly, bring the digital to the physical world.

SK Telecom flying taxi

Ok, it is not yet capable of flying, but this taxi is already a small preview of what electric mobility will be like in the future. Over the next 7 years, SK Telecomwhich is a mobile operator, will develop this model to enter the segment.

Interestingly, the flying taxis of the future will have to connect to 5G networks or better to operate in cities, with which SK will already have the experience gained from its telecommunications business.

Segway and his hydrogen motorcycle

hydrogen motorcycle Segway electric mobility MWC

The Segway stand, one of the best-known manufacturers of electric scooters, is one of the largest at the MWC. Although it contains not only the company’s latest releases in this area, but also other more groundbreaking ones.

It is the case of the Segway Apex H2a hydrogen motorcycle that was presented as a concept 2 years ago but that, now, has had its space at this fair.

Furthermore, in his booth all devices could be driven, from scooters to go-karts. All this with a robot that welcomed us to the booth with newsletters from the fair itself.

Lucid Air 2023

Lucid Air 2023 MWC

Although Lucid launched the Air model in 2020, there are still many people who are amazed by the updates to this vehicle that, according to colleagues of AutoBildwas introduced to the electric market in mid-2021.

At first glance, the Lucid Air comes off as very stylish, competing directly with other models like the Porsche Taycan, 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS, and Tesla Model S.

Of course, in a price range that leaves the Tesla Model S almost like a cheap vehicle. to get the Lucid Air of 2023 You will have to pay up to 220,000 euros, depending on the European region.

Tesla Police Car

This collaboration between Tesla, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric vehicles, and Jenoptik, a company that provides software solutions, also did not go unnoticed by attendees at this year’s MWC.

This vehicle is the Tesla Model 3 and it has the necessary equipment so that the authorities agents cannot miss anything: facial recognition, control cameras, sensors to recognize car license plates…

Vueling and the noise of the planes

Santiago Lópezbarrena Arenas, Head of Sustainability at Vueling.

Those residing near airports can attest that aircraft noise can still be annoying to their populations. In this sense, Vueling is developing a system to, among other things, eliminate these.

As Santiago Lópezbarrena Arenas, Vueling’s head of Sustainability, explained to us, the system can help other airlines, although for now we will have to wait to see this technology arrive at airports.

“I think we have many benefits in terms of noise in populations and, economically, we avoid unnecessary delays,” Lópezbarrena highlighted.

body recognition robot

body recognition robot

Facial recognition by robots is nothing new, although what is surprising about this model that we find is its ability to recognize the whole body. As you can see, in this case, it treats everyone as a guest.

From here, imagine all the possible applications, both for home surveillance tasks and for managing entrances to macro events. A technology that, little by little, we will see more frequently.

Telefónica 3D hologram

Once again, the telcos are pulling muscle beyond pure and hard connectivity. In this case, Telefónica also showed its 3D holographic telepresence systemin conjunction with Evercoast, Intel and AWS.

This system is capable of entering any virtual or augmented reality environment, after creating your hologram in a volumetric capture space. Imagine the possibilities that this technology offers, for example, in video games.
