o2 has improved several of its fiber and mobile bundles. The cheap brand of Telefónica puts pressure again after a few months with the market somewhat numb and this time it does what it does best: improving conditions for the most demanding.
Thus, O2 has become the cheap more premium brand which has 5G, more fiber speed and more gigabytes than most direct rivals. So it has practically no rival where it competes, but let’s compare it with Lowi, Simyo, Pepephone or Digi, to find out what are its real advantages?.
O2 crushes the competition wherever they compete
O2 stopped competing in the lowest cost field after stopping marketing the combination of fiber and mobile for 30 eurosso in this field, finetwork, Lowi Digi, Xenet or Suop, remain the only alternatives.
The cheapest combined rate of O2 pate de 38 euros with fiber at 500 Mbps and 50 GBand for a similar price, Pepephone, finetwork, Simyo and Lowi offer less speed and less data, although they are also cheap up to three euros and accumulate the gigabytes not consumed.
Where O2’s hand is most noticeable is in the next price range, which in practice has led to the reduction of access to fiber to 1,000 Mbps to 44 euros, together with a mobile line with 75 GB not cumulative. Here, only Digi is still cheaper (especially under its own fiber coverage), but it does not have 5G, and adding a fixed line has an additional cost.
To access the gig of fiber speed, the price is around 46 euros in Simyo (with 100 GB), 50 euros in Lowi (with 100 GB), 51 euros in Pepephone (with 99 GB and Netflix). And if you need more gigabytes, O2 puts the icing on the cake with 200 GB for 50 euros a month.
For those who settle for less fiber speed and less gigs to be able to reduce what they pay month to month, O2 is still far from low cost, and rivals such as Digi, Xenet, finetwork, Simyo or Lowi may be a good alternative with similar fiber coverage. Pepephone, Jazztel and MásMóvil are the only ones that also offer 5G.
