After years of offering these two iconic shell models, the Mod NX and SolidSuit, the props specialist Rhinoshield is back on the scene and intends to attract the last recalcitrants with their latest invention, the Clear. Their first customizable and completely transparent case that we tested on an iPhone 12 Pro!
Clearly transparent
For years, Rhinoshield has established itself in the smartphone case market thanks to their technology ShockSpread to protect your smartphone incredibly well while being 20% thinner and lighter than their competitors.
However, a handful of users, including myself, still regretted not being able to combine this degree of protection with the magnificent design of our small iDevices. This is where Rhinoshield’s new revolution, the Clear, comes into play.
As its name suggests, the Rhinoshield Clear is… transparent! Not just on the back, but on the sides as well, allowing us to enjoy the colors and lines of your device unhindered.
A crucial point for this type of accessory, Rhinoshield has particularly worked on the resistance to yellowing! Main defect of other models which are also often sold much cheaper, around 10€.
In comparison, my other transparent shell is already yellow after 4 months…
Clearly resistant
What about shock resistance will you tell me? According to the statements of the brand, the Clear is molded from a single block of a material benefiting from a revisited version of the technology ShockSpread of these big sisters, supposed to protect you from falls up to 3.5 meters. However, I will leave the drop-tests to the professionals, our tests from a table are enough to understand that the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 is well protected.
In addition, the cover is slightly raised, on the front side and at the level of the lens, so that your phone is not likely to be scratched!
Clearly customizable
Of course, a case cannot be signed by Rhinoshield without a large amount of customization possible!
So you will have the choice to choose between a perfectly classic transparent shell or to affix a pattern of your choice on the back.
Likewise, you will be able to change the color of the buttons and the outline of the camera.
The icing on the cake, the props also offers a neckband set, made from recycled Mod NX, allowing you to hang your phone around your neck.
Clearly RhinoShield
As you will have understood, the Clear is the logical continuation for RhinoShield which now intends to satisfy everyone with a more complete range of shells than ever!
You will find all the details you want on the RhinoShield Clear Case on their website and buy it on Amazon for 37.99€. Attention, the shells are different between iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 because of the cutout of the photo module.
The +
- As transparent as possible
- Thinner than Mod NX
- High drop resistance
- Raised edges
- Resists yellowing (according to RhinoShield)
- Free of BPA, BPF, BPS and any toxic chemicals
- Good hold of the phone…
The –
- . . . Which makes the hull hard to remove. We damaged a corner of the hull by dint of playing with it. It will therefore be better to leave it on your device.
- Heavier (37g) than other transparent shells on the market (but that’s the price to pay for better protection…)
- If the shell protects the phone from scratches, in just 4 days of use, our model was already scratched! We would have liked better scratch resistance.
