Free Files, Free’s application for managing and downloading files on your smartphone, has just received a new update. With it, a new feature arrives: the possibility of linking your VPN to the download manager.
Definitely, Free has been making announcements lately. After the launch of its trade-in operation for old smartphones and the debut of OQEE Ciné, the operator has just rolled out a new update for Free Files.
In line with what Freebox Connect already offered, this application allows subscribers to easily manage all the files contained on the hard drive of their Freebox from their smartphone.
So you can move, copy or delete files with just a few clicks. Via Free Files, users can also directly upload files to their Freebox Pop, Delta, One, Revolution and mini 4K. In addition, it is possible to remotely read the files stored on your Freebox on your smartphone.
Free Files makes downloading safe with VPNs
But since the arrival of the latest version 1.8 of the application, users can now enjoy another valuable feature. Indeed, we can now configure a VPN in just a few clicks “to download securely and anonymously from the Internet”.
From Free Files or via the Freebox application in the More menu of the Subscriber area, you can connect your vpn to download manager. Many VPNs available in the market are supported like:
- OpenVPN
- PPTP
- WireGuard
- cyberghost
- NordVPN
- ExpressVPN
During the configuration, you will be asked to add various essential information like VPN protocol, server name, login credentials or advanced settings. Of course, it will be necessary to have previously subscribed to a subscription with one of the services mentioned to take advantage of this functionality on Free Files. Finally, Note that this feature is available on both Android and iOS.
As a reminder, Free has just teased the arrival of Freebox v9, its next new generation box. For the moment, no concrete information to get your teeth into, except for a launch hoped for in October 2023.
