With the approach of the French presidential elections, every information is good to take. If you want to know which smartphone brands are used by the candidates still on the list, you’ve come to the right place. Upon inspection, the iPhone is well ahead, with no left-right distinction.
The iPhone is the favorite smartphone of politicians
The presidential elections are approaching and the candidates have therefore been very active on the networks in recent months. At 19 days from the first round, LeParisien looked at the brands of smartphones used and guess what, the iPhone is the most popular.
According to the capital’s newspaper, nine out of twelve candidates have an iPhone as their personal phone. In other words, 75% of candidates for the 2022 presidential election have an iPhone. Android, for its part, has to settle for a poor 25%.
The article also recalls that this is not representative of the French population, 73% of which is on Android and 27% on iOS on the side of Apple. We can even say that the numbers are reversed.
As for the current President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, he uses two iPhones on a daily basis to manage all his affairs. His official portrait of 2017 also highlighted the Apple smartphone. On the other hand, rather surprisingly, it is a Samsung brand smartphone that is used for sensitive state affairs. Remember that the scandal around the Pegasus affair about eight months ago caused a stir.
As for the other candidates, here is the complete list:
- iPhone 11 for Valérie Pécresse
- iPhone 8 for Eric Zemmour
- iPhone X for Yannick Jadot
- iPhone (not specified) also for Anne Hidalgo, Philippe Poutou, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, Jean Lassalle and Marine Le Pen
On the minority side, we find Nathalie Arthaud and Fabien Roussel with the Samsung Galaxy A52. Finally, special mention to Jean-Luc Mélenchon who chose a Huawei smartphone, a brand banned from Google services and therefore from Android. Nevertheless, it is rumored that he could go over to Samsung’s side, perhaps if he is elected president…
There you go, you know everything about the smartphones of candidates for the April 2022 presidential election. So, are you voting for an Apple candidate or an Android candidate?
