Realme has introduced some such smartphones in the last three years, which compete with the entry level flagship phones of other companies. One of these is the company’s GT series, which has been introduced this year. The first smartphone of this series, Relame GT, was introduced in China in April. Last month it has been launched in the Indian market as well as the European market. This is the cheapest phone to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset.
The Realme GT comes in two storage options – 8GB RAM + 128GB and 12GB RAM + 256GB. Its 8GB RAM variant will be available in two color options – Dashing Blue and Silver. At the same time, the model with 12GB of RAM comes in only one Racing Yellow color, with the Vegan Leather finishing on the back panel. The base model of the phone is priced at Rs 37,999. At the same time, its top model is Rs 41,999. We used its top variant for the last few days and have brought its review.
Realme GT: Design
Talking about the design, the model that has come to us gives a premium look. The back of the phone has Vegan Leather finishing, due to which it has a different feel to hold in hand. The gripping of the phone is very good and due to the soft touch, there is no problem in using it with one hand. A glass strip is given in the middle of the back panel, which seems to be an extension of the camera module. If you look closely at the glass strip, you will see a pattern in it.
Due to the leather finishing, there is no fingerprint or any other mark on its back panel. Yes, fingerprints or other marks do come on the glass strip given on the back, so you will have to clean it from time to time. A silicon cover is also available in the box with the phone, but it would be nice to use the Realme GT without the cover.
The Racing Yellow color variant of the Realme GT is slim (just 9.1 mm). According to the company’s official website, its glass variant (8GB RAM) is even thinner (8.4mm). The Racing Yellow variant of the phone weighs 186 grams. The SIM card slot is given on its left side, in which two SIM cards can be inserted. Volume rockers are given just below it. At the same time, the power button will be found on the right side. On the bottom are the USB Type C port, 3.5mm audio jack and speaker. Dual speaker unit is provided for the microphone.
The build quality of this flagship phone of Reality is good and the Racing Yellow variant looks quite unique. By using it, you will feel that you are using a flagship smartphone. For daily use, you will like the Racing Yellow variant of Realme GT in terms of design. The only drawback we found in its design is that the company has used a plastic frame in it.
Realme GT: Display
Realme GT has a 6.43-inch Full HD + Super AMOLED display, which supports 120Hz refresh rate. The punch-hole design for the selfie camera has been given in the display of the phone. However, its punch-hole design is not as small as the Mi 11X Pro 5G that comes in this price range. The punch-hole cut-out of this Realme phone is slightly bigger. However, if you will stream videos or play games on the phone in full screen, then this cut-out will not disturb you.
Although the phone gets a 120Hz refresh rate on the default settings, but you can set the display setting between 60Hz to 120Hz. Due to the AMOLED panel, it will be fun to watch Youtube videos, movies on OTT or play games in its display. The display of the phone is so smooth that even if you switch from one app to another, you will not even know. Also, its scrolling is very fast. It supports touch sampling rate up to 360Hz, due to which the touch response in the display is fast. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor, which makes unlocking the phone very fast.
The display of Realme GT 5G supports HDR, HLG and HDR10+. In this, you can watch pictures, videos, etc. in high resolution with great detailing. On Amazon Prime Video, we tested by watching a movie in it, then it was supporting HDR. It was also being said in many reports that it does not support HDR in the Netflix app. However, with an update, the company can fix it. The brightness level of the phone is good and it gets a better viewing angle. The screen used in the phone gets a peak brightness of up to 552 nits.
In the display settings, you will find three types of color modes – Vivid, Gentle and Brilliant. You can choose any one of these modes according to your preference. By default, in this you will get Vivid color mode. Apart from this, you will also get the option to enable Ultra Vision Engine in the settings. After enabling it, you can increase the brightness of the screen further while playing HDR videos. Not only this, you can also enable it while playing the game. Talking about the overall display experience of the phone, it lives up to what you expect from the display of a smartphone in this range. The display experience is quite smooth. Day light or low light, you will not have any problem in seeing its display.
Realme GT: Performance
Talking about the performance of the phone, it is the first smartphone from Realme to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Due to the flagship processor, the performance of the phone is also great. Along with gaming, this smartphone will also get a good experience in multi-tasking. No matter how many apps you open in the phone, it will not hang. We have seen more than 40 apps using it simultaneously. No lagging problem was found in the phone.
Talking about the gaming experience in Realme GT 5G, it is also excellent. There will be no problem in playing battle royale games like Free Fire, Call of Duty: Mobile, Battlegrounds Mobile India even on advanced settings, the game will run quite smoothly. However, after playing heavy games with high resolution and graphics for some time, the display starts heating up a bit, but the back panel does not get hot. At the same time, there is a special GT mode in it, after which you will play the game after turning it on, then the notifications coming on the phone during gaming will stop and you will be able to enjoy gaming without any interruption. We played Call of Duty: Mobile by setting it to high graphics and maximum frame rate. We did not find lagging in the graphics of the game.
This Realme phone has a 4,500mAh battery. Once fully charged, it lasts for a day. However, users who use the phone more may have to charge it twice a day. You can’t expect much from its battery. After watching HD videos continuously in the phone, once on full charge, its battery will last for 10 hours. The battery may not last very long, but it has a fast charger of 65W, which can fully charge the phone in 35 minutes. You can easily use the phone for 6 to 7 hours by charging the phone for 10 minutes.
Realme GT: Camera
Reality has given triple rear camera setup in the back of this smartphone. At the same time, a single camera is available for selfie. There is a 64MP primary camera in the back. With this, 8MP ultra wide angle camera and 2MP macro camera will be available. A 16MP camera has been given in the phone for selfie. The same camera app will be available in the phone, which is found in other phones of Reality. There is no change in the interface of the camera app. Most of the controls in the camera app are found at the top of the screen, including frame adjustment, video resolution settings, etc.
Talking about the picture and video taken with the camera of Realme GT 5G, it is better than other 64MP camera phones of the company. I have clicked many pictures with the camera of this phone. Daylight or low light, the picture taken is good. Its picture is not pixelated and the quality is quite clear. If you want, click on the photo and get the print out. Especially the picture taken in daylight looks crystal clear. After turning on the night mode, it does not take much time to click the photo. Usually after turning on Night Mode in any phone, if you click a picture, then the camera takes 5 to 7 seconds to capture it. It takes only 2 to 3 seconds to click a picture from this phone.
The color correction of the picture taken from this phone is good, that is, you will get a lot of natural colors in the picture. You will be able to easily see the difference between bright and dark spots in the picture. Reality has properly tuned the software with its camera sensor, due to which the picture captured with this phone comes out good.
A better picture can be clicked from the selfie camera of Realme GT. Also, its selfie camera also supports Night Mode. With this phone, we have clicked many pictures from the moving train, which have come out better. Talking about video, with this you can capture 4K quality video. Youtuber and video blogger will also be able to use this phone for shoots. Overall, the camera of Reality GT gives a good challenge to the cameras of other phones found in this price range.
our decision
Realme GT 5G is a good phone compared to all the phones launched by Realme so far. From its performance to camera and design, we give full numbers to it. Especially because of the racing yellow color variant and the vegan leather on it, the look of the phone looks quite attractive. As good as the phone looks, its performance and camera quality are also better. This phone seems to be leaving behind the OnePlus 9R coming in this range in most cases.
What we found lacking in Reality GT is that its battery gets discharged quickly. However, to keep the weight of the phone down, not much mAh battery has been used in it. Also, Realme is calling it a flagship phone, so plastic body should not be used in it. A metallic body is expected in a flagship phone. However, it feels better to call it a top mid-range smartphone than a flagship. Overall, if you are looking for a smartphone in the Rs 40,000 range that offers a good display, a better camera, and a better gaming experience, then the Realme GT can be a good option for you.
