Instagram, made a statement about a test the company plans to perform “in a week or two”. As part of this test, users 9:16 am in size photograph can add. A small part of this information was revealed at Adam Mosseri’s weekly Q&A. “You can have long videos, but you can’t have long photos on Instagram. So we thought maybe we should make sure we treat them both equally,” the CEO said.
Reels-like photo feature from Instagram!
It’s been a busy week at Instagram. I’m doing an AMA shortly – https://t.co/aM4JODvskg – like I do every Friday. Ask a question there and I’ll do my best to answer it.

It’s already possible to share 9:16 photos on Instagram, but you have to do it through the app’s Stories feature. That means these images will be lost unless you save them as Highlights. Right now, vertical photos you upload to your stream come to 8:10 as long as you crop them correctly. This means that long photos are not included in the platform. But the company will now change that.
The timing of the test in question came after Mosseri recently announced that Instagram would be reinstating its full-screen interface. The company had been testing the redesign since mid-June. However, users did not like this redesign. “People are disappointed for new flow designs and usage data is not well received,” Mosseri told Platformer last week. Instagram’s latest testing shows that the company still intends to switch to a more TikTok-like experience.
