Russia’s announcement was made by the head of the Roscosmos agency after a discussion with President Vladimir Putin.
Although Russia renewed its participation until 2024, it will be until that date that the Russians fulfill their obligations in the station, to later build their own orbital station.
As you hear it, the Russian space platform would be ready by 2025; and the cost of the project amounts to 38.9 million dollars, according to information from the portal of state purchases of that country.
Why did Russia make this decision?
It is said that Russia, since it began its offensive in Ukraine, already had the intention of abandoning collaboration in this matter.
However, despite the political and diplomatic clashes over the war in Ukraine, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA in short, and its Russian counterpart agreed earlier this month that Western astronauts will continue to travel to space on Russian rockets.
For its part, NASA also issued a strange statement condemning the use of the International Space Station by Russia for political purposes to support the war against Ukraine.
Likewise, the United States is preparing to find solutions, since this announcement does not take the gringos by surprise, since since last March it indicated that it was working to keep the station in orbit without the help of its Russian counterpart.
