Samsung gives the photo talents of the S22 to these old Galaxy smartphones

If you have a high-end Samsung Galaxy smartphone from one or two years ago, or even older, we recommend that you launch an update search. Indeed, as reported by the Sam Mobile site, Samsung is in the process of delivering some of the features of the S22 to other flagships. The features in question are already available in South Korea and various markets. If they are not yet available for your model, they should be in a few weeks.

Among the most significant new photo features is the new improved Night mode. The Galaxy Note 20 / Ultra, S20 / + / Ultra, S21 / + / Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 2 and 3 are all affected by the novelty: as on the S22 it becomes possible to take portraits at night and in general the quality of images in dark and nocturnal environments benefits from a real improvement. A priori the S20 FE and S21 FE should be excluded from this feature, but this remains to be confirmed.

There is also the automatic change of video focus (Auto Framing). The function, available on the rear cameras of the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip “automatically recognizes the moving person and optimizes framing when recording video […] If other people appear in the frame, the frame expands, then shrinks as soon as they exit the frame”as Samsung explains on its help pages.

This function will be available for calls in Facebook Messenger, Google Duo / Meet, Instagram and WhatsApp on the following models: Galaxy S21 / + / Ultra / FE. Samsung is also promising improvements on the Galaxy Z Flip / 5G / 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 2 / 3. There are also improvements coming to the effects side of video calls. These improvements should benefit older flagships, including Galaxy S10e/ S10 / + / S10 5G / Lite, Galaxy Note 10 / + / Lite, Galaxy S20 / + Ultra.

But also the Galaxy S20 FE, the Galaxy Note 20 / Ultra, the Galaxy S21 / + / Ultra / FE, the Galaxy Z Flip / 5G / 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Fold 3. All these models will indeed benefit video blur effect, background replacement and new voice controls during calls. These new features will also be available in BlueJeans, Google Duo, Google Meet, KakaoTalk, Knox Meeting, Messenger (Meta), Microsoft Teams, Webex Meetings, WhatsApp, and Zoom.

Samsung is also improving photo and video quality in third-party social apps on all Galaxy S21, Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3. This means these apps can take advantage of AI-powered processing, video stabilization, noise reduction by multi-sampling, night mode, Super HDR mode, telephoto in the Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok application. Finally, the Expert RAW app becomes compatible with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 – customers will be able to download the app through the Galaxy Store by the end of the month.
