The route begins, as was already known, through Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Northern Europe is the first area to enjoy the new streaming service and, incidentally, it solves some doubts about its catalog of series and movies and, more importantly, about its price. In Finland, for example, it will be priced at 6.99 euros per month.
SkyShowtime opens with very competitive prices
Bearing in mind that services such as Netflix, HBO Max or Disney+ move with monthly prices of over 8 euros (not counting specific promotions or annual payment options with discounts), the 6.99 euros of SkyShowtime place it as one of the most competitive platforms. At least in Finland, of course, but nothing suggests that its price may rise when it finally sets foot in Spain.
As far as its catalog is concerned, it seems that SkyShowtime will serve Paramount to display in Europe a catalog of a couple of its unpublished platforms in the old continent (such as Paramoun+ or Peacock) and its Showtime, Sky or Nickelodeon channels. Content from NBCUniversal, Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures will also arrive. That means that it could be the main route of arrival of franchises like ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘Transformers’ or ‘Star Trek’.
If to all this we also add the content catalog of the Miramax production company, we would obtain the more than 10,000 hours that the catalog promises when it arrives. And while the platform arrives in Spain, either with its original name or finally reconverted to Paramount + if they sell any of its pieces, we have a small official trailer to take us to the mouth.
Our colleagues from Xataka have compiled the main titles that will arrive in Europe from the hand of SkyShowtime, and they are the following:
