The Mobile World Congress returns to its full essence this year 2023 with launches of various brands at the fair itself. Xiaomi has seized the moment and has presented a complete line of mobiles, a watch and a new scooter.
At Computerhoy we have been testing the new family of mobiles for a few days and its clear commitment to the photographic section with Leica. We have in hand the Xiaomi 13 and the xiaomi 13 Pro and we can tell you what sensations they are giving us.
The first is the most compact, with a screen of only 6.36 inches, small for what we are used to. However, it comes loaded with power with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a commitment to a new 50 Mpx main camera sensor accompanied by a LEICA SUMMICRON lens like the ones we saw years ago on Huawei phones.
The model xiaomi 13 Pro comes with a 1-inch main sensor and also a LEICA SUMMICRON lens, a screen of 6.73 inches and it becomes the company’s new top smartphone.

Xiaomi 13 Pro, the company’s new flagship
If we stop to see what Xiaomi’s new top mobile is like, we have to highlight many new features. We are not only facing a mobile that promises top performance thanks to integrating a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
In fact, it can even generate AI images in record time, but it also has many weapons in the other sections.
Xiaomi 13 Pro is the aspirational terminal that Xiaomi puts on the market. Not only is this a mobile capable of offering the best performance, with a careful design and a camera worthy of the highest range, but it also has 120 W fast charging and endless extras.
It is worth noting its screen, it stands out for its size of 6.72 inches, but it is also that we are facing an AMOLED screen with a 3,200 x 1,440 px resolution and an adaptive refresh rate that goes from 1 to 120 Hz. was little, promises a maximum brightness of up to 1,900 nits.
With these features, it is compatible with all available HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HLG or HDR10+.
The collaboration with Leica makes this terminal a device for photography lovers thanks to the main one-inch Sony IMX989 sensor with a Leica Summicron f/1.9 lens. In addition, the company will sell a housing with which Leica lenses can be adapted and get more out of the terminal.
The first impressions leave a good taste in our mouths in this section since we have been able to take photographs including the two traditional image modes Leica Vibrant and Leica Authentic. Stabilization is one of the great highlights and you will see in our analysis the videos that we can get to take by hand even in 4K resolution and even in RAW 10-bit LOG format.
As an extra point, the fast charge of 120 W. The integrated battery is 4,820 mAh and with the included charger we will be able to charge from 0% to 100% in just 19 minutesyes yes, nineteen, it is not a typo.
Xiaomi reaches the level of the top smartphones on the market today, placing itself at the level of the Galaxy S23 Ultra or the iPhone 14 Pro. We will see in the analysis if what it offers on paper is fulfilled on a day-to-day basis.
Xiaomi 13, the most rational option improved once again
The Xiaomi 12T Pro left us with a great taste in our mouths and this model is nothing more than a twist on what the company presented, surpassing this 12T Pro in raw performance and with a renewed design.
He Xiaomi 13 is a smartphone capable of satisfying the most demanding user without having to reach a price range with which we have to think about whether to pay in installments or not.
This mobile seeks the logical balance between being the top mobile in terms of performance and adjusting some specifications compared to the xiaomi 13 Pro to become a more affordable model.
In terms of power and performance we are on par. However, we see differences in the screen, with a smaller diagonal that, although it reaches the same level of brightness, is left with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz without being able to go down to 1 Hz like its older brother.
Another of the changes is, due to size, the battery. It stays at 4,500 mAh and as charging technology it has a 67w charger compared to the 120 W of his older brother. This makes the full charge take around 38 minutes, more than the Xiaomi 13 Pro but very little if we compare it with the alternatives Galaxy S23 or iPhone 14, among others.
It is a mobile in which Leica also signs the Summicron lens, and this time the 50 Mpx IMX800 camera is accompanied by an f/1.8 equivalent aperture.
This time we also have a telephoto sensor and a wide angle, but instead of being 50 Mpx with the Xiaomi 13 Pro, we are going to a cut of up to 10 Mpx and 12 Mpx respectively. Besides It even allows you to record RAW video.
As we said, it is the most rational decision and it will be more than enough for most users, but it is clear that it is not the best.
As common issues, we have the IP68 certification for resistance to water and dust, the Dolby Atmos Audio support (stereo speakers), which together with Dolby Vision on their screens make them a great device for viewing multimedia content.
What remains for us to see and verify
Looking at the analysis we want to see how these two mobiles perform. Xiaomi has puffed up its chest mentioning that they have a vapor chamber to dissipate the heat generated by the Snapdragon and it is something that we will see during our tests and benchmarks, will they have managed to avoid thermal throttling?
The camera quality It seems like one of the strong points, the stabilization we already told you is superb, now… how will they perform in complicated lighting situations? And in low light? How much does Leica contribute to these mobiles?
The charging times as well as the autonomy that we achieve with these batteries less than 5,000 mAhthe size of the Xiaomi 12T Pro, are other points that we will look at in depth.
What is clear is that these mobiles have a careful design, the latest on the market in display and processor technologycameras with which professional results can be achieved and a host of extras such as 50 W wireless charging or 10 W reverse wireless charging and Wi-Fi 7 support that put them on the crest of the wave.
