During the Google I / O of 2023 we saw different news regarding its artificial intelligence Bard. All this accompanied by the announcement in which the expansion of AI to more than 180 countries where We all thought that Spain was going to be included along with the members of the European Unionbut the reality has been very different.
After consulting the list of official countries where Bard will be able to be used, neither Spain nor any country of the European Union appears. This is something that a priori can be really strange but it seems that everything points to the fact that the privacy legislation of the European Union and the GDPR are to blame Google having to adapt to avoid the problems that ChatGPT already had in Italy. But there are ways to try all the Bard news for free.

Use Opera to access Bard without restrictions in Spain
Any type of VPN can be used on PC, but in my particular case I have decided to use Opera which has a built-in VPN for which absolutely nothing should be paid and which is activated with a single click on the address bar itself. We recommend you download this browser from its official website and locate yourself in North America in the VPN to use Bard. To do this, you will simply have to click on the three lines in the upper right corner and at the end go to the section VPN clicking on Activate in settings.
Once you have it installed and running, you will have to access the Bard website and click on the bottom right on “Sign in”. And it is necessary to take into account that Bard at the moment can only be used in English both to enter requests and to navigate the interface.
By clicking on the button, you will have to log in with your Google account and you will automatically receive an email with all the instructions for the new Bard and a button to access artificial intelligence as long as you have the VPN active in the determined locations.
Now the chat opens to talk to Bard as if it were ChatGPT. In my particular case, I have asked him to create rental contracts, protocols for a laboratory of complex techniques or to answer technical questions. What surprised me the most is that it does it very quickly, with an automatic generation without us having to see how the AI is writing as if it occurs with the OpenAI option.
In addition, the possibility of finding the reference in Google or clicking on the Share button is added at the bottom. Here you will see that can be exported to Docs or Gmail as we also saw in yesterday’s presentation.
In short, we are going to test the AI although Spain has been marginalized in this way by Google due to privacy legislation. But as it is always said, putting walls to the field is somewhat useless since there are methods to bypass the restrictions that end up being imposed on the users and this is one that works quite well.
