These are all the Macs that Apple could present this 2022, more than it has ever presented before in a year.
We are facing a very important year for Apple’s Mac range since it can be the year they complete the full transition to their own Apple Silicon processors, leaving forever the chips made by Intel. And rumors indicate that in 2022 we could see up to 7 different Mac models, which should be analyzed.
Mark Gurman revealed that Apple had prepared many new mac models for this year, and this is what we know about each of them.
Mac mini with an M1 Pro chip
One of the models that most surprises us is this new Mac mini with the M1 Pro chip. It is to be expected that this device keep current design and simply offer a new solution with this MacBook Pro processor to make it more powerful.
- Likely release: March 2022.
13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip
Another one of the closest releases. It looks like Apple is going to upgrade the current 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 chip with the new M2 processor, which has not yet been submitted. The design would remain exactly the same, including the TouchBar.
- Likely release: March 2022.
iMac Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips
One of the most anticipated Macs of the year. A is expected 24-inch iMac-like design but with a larger size and the addition of the MacBook Pro M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. An iMac designed for professionals who need maximum power that should be presented in the middle of the year.
- Likely release: June 2022.
Mac Pro with the equivalent of two or four M1 Max chips
A device also highly anticipated, since will incorporate the most powerful processor ever designed by Apple. There is talk of a power that could quadruple that of the M1 Max chip, a real beast that we want to see in action. Probably Apple will present it at its developer conference.
- Likely release: June 2022.
MacBook Air redesigned with an M2 chip
The third major redesign of this transition will be for the MacBook Air, the company’s true bestseller. First it was the iMac, then the MacBook Pro and finally it will be the MacBook Air. A is expected deep redesign, with more colors and change in the shape of the chassis. It will also incorporate the M2 chip.
- Likely launch: late 2022.
Mac mini with an M2 chip
Perhaps Apple will take advantage of this end of the year to redesign the Mac mini and incorporate the M2 chip. This new design could be much smaller and finer than the current one. Something possible thanks to Apple Silicon processors.
- Likely launch: late 2022.
24-inch iMac with M2 chip
Lastly, we’re also expecting a slight update to the 24-inch iMac later in the year. We will keep exactly the same design but we incorporate the new M2 chip.
- Likely launch: late 2022.
These are all the Macs that Apple could present this 2022. Never before have we seen so many models in a single year, which shows that we are facing one of the most important years for the company.
