Another iPhone review reveals one of its main problems!
The iPhone 15 Pro Max went through the iFixit dismantling test, a few days after its launch, but not everything was said. In a second review a few days ago, iFixit experts put the iPhone 15 to the test, through a microscopeoffering a “new look” at its components.
In the video They approached components such as the iPhone case, adhesive and screen, showing individual pixels. There are blown-up views of everything from the battery connector to the magnets inside the Taptic Engine.
The iPhone 15 seen in detail
When using the DSX1000 microscope from Evident Scientific, iFixit noted some interesting changes in the new iPhone, starting with image stabilizationthe company shows the iPhone 15’s sensor-shift stabilization in action.
Thus, they explained that the camera uses “four electromagnets to move the camera sensor and hold the image in place. “This technology has limits on how much it can stabilize: it can only move the sensor in two axes, correcting for small shakes.”.
Although iFixit offers a fun overview of the iPhone 15 in this microscopic appearance, it notes that Apple still needs to improve the repairability of its devices. Regarding the evolution of the design compared to the iPhone 14, it highlights positive changes such as the replaceable rear glass. However, Apple’s strategy of using software to match parts to each individual phone limits repairs and reduces the prospects for repairability.
“Apple’s push toward modularity, highlighted by the dual-input design, is a positive step forward on an already good foundation. However, the challenge of matching parts, the completely artificial barrier that disadvantages restorers and recyclers, as well as everyday repairers, remains important.”
Replacing many components results in reduced functionality and underscores the need for Apple to bow to restrictions on its repair software. Thus, iFixit rated the iPhone 15 with a provisional score of 4 out of 10 for repairabilityassuming the parts and manuals are made public.
Apple presented the new generation of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, almost a month ago, during the Wunderlust event. Since then, the repairability conditions have been evaluated by experts and users.
While Apple has many conditions that can be improved, it has also begun to open others, such as the reduction in the repair fee for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is much cheaper than what it costs to replace the same component in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. For now, doing the same repair on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models has the same value as doing it on the iPhone 14 and iPhone Plus.
