After the first tests of the Apple Watch Series 8, here are those on the second generation Apple Watch SE. Before the first deliveries arrive at customers tomorrow, the American media gives us a first deep look at the modest updates of the Apple Watch SE 2, while awaiting opinions on the Apple Watch Ultra that we already have handling.
Apple Watch SE 2 reviews
The Streets perfectly sums up what it’s like to pick up the new Apple Watch SE in 2022:
The Apple Watch SE is the best solution if you’re new to the Apple Watch, don’t need all the health features of an always-on display, or have an older model like a Series 1, 2 or 3.
Engadget adds a layer of it by highlighting what you lose by choosing the Apple Watch SE:
The main features you will miss if you opt for an SE instead of an 8 Series are the always-on display (AOD), ECG reader, blood oxygen app and the new skin temperature sensor. Like the older SE model, this year’s model also charges slower than the 7 and 8 series, and lacks the U1 chip for ultra-wideband. It also doesn’t come with the IP6X dust resistance rating of its more high-end counterparts, so if you’re planning on taking it out in the mud or to the beach, it might be good to consider a more expensive model. People who hate chunky bezels will also find the SE’s thicker edges off-putting, but without a side-by-side comparison, I didn’t notice much of a difference.
The Wall Street Journal talks about the small differences between the Apple Watch SE 2 predecessor and who this smartwatch might be worth:
SE ($249+): If you want basic activity tracking and security features, go with the SE. There’s no always-on display, temperature sensor, blood oxygen sensor, or ECG app. Like the Series 8, it is waterproof up to 50 meters. Buy Apple Watch 8
Conclusion
The Apple Watch SE 2 has the S8 chip, like the Apple Watch 8, crash detection, a brighter display and new color options. But its great advantage is that it starts at 299 euros, or 30 € less than the first SE, and 200 € cheaper than the other model mentioned.
