A new report from TheElec confirms that Samsung plans to bring forward the launch date of its Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 compared to last year. The release should take place about 3 weeks in advance, around the end of July. This would allow Samsung to improve its financial results for the third quarter.
A few days ago, we informed you that we could see the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 a little earlier than usual this year. Indeed, Samsung generally unveils its new foldable range during the month of August, during its traditional Unpacked event. However, this year, rumors claim that smartphones could land as early as July. Information recently confirmed in the new report from TheElec.
The Korean media thus indicates that Samsung plans to bring forward the presentation of its folders by 2 to 3 weeks compared to the usual date. A quick calculation therefore makes it possible to determine that the launch would thus be set at the last week of July, with a specific date yet to be confirmed. What’s more, other indiscretions have suggested that the manufacturer has ordered components for its smartphones earlier than usual, further confirming the possibility of an advanced release.

See you at the end of July to discover the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5
Obviously, this decision is purely strategic for Samsung. According to TheElec, the Korean firm hopes in this way to improve its financial results for the third quarter of 2023, which already promises to be difficult. The first quarter was relatively disastrous for the company, whose semiconductor division recorded its first loss in 14 years – prompting the company to consider the return of Exynos chips for the Galaxy S24.
By launching its new smartphones instead, Samsung therefore hopes to boost sales figures a little and look good with shareholders. It remains to be seen whether the strategy will pay off or not. Despite the recent price cuts on the range, the manufacturer’s foldable smartphones remain very expensive products, especially the Z Fold 5, which will have a hard time convincing a very large audience in these times of inflation. Samsung, in any case, believes in it hard as iron.
