Many interesting things about iOS 18 are being leaked and on this occasion they have been revealed possible news that we will see in the Photos app. We know that AI is going to be very important in iOS 18 and Apple wants to use it thoroughly in the Photos app to offer us many editing options.
We have already heard rumors about the iOS 18 Notes app and also about the Messages app, so it seems that iOS 18 will be a good facelift for both the operating system itself and the apps that come pre-installed. According to this information, the Photos app will incorporate powerful generative AI functions.
People familiar with Apple’s next-generation operating systems have told AppleInsider that the iPad maker is internally testing an improved feature for its built-in Photos app that would make use of generative AI for photo editing. The feature is known as “Clean Up” in pre-release versions.
The Photos app will use generative artificial intelligence
According to has reported AppleInsiderApple is planning a new function for the Photos app that would be based on generative AI. This function could allow us to delete elements from the photos or it could even allow us to add some elements using text. At the moment it seems that this function will be in the macOS 15 Photos app, although it is expected that it will also be present in the iOS and iPadOS versions.
This feature that Apple is testing would allow users to remove objects from an image by leveraging generative AI, making it as if the objects were never there. Without a doubt they are advanced photography app featureslike Photoshop for iPad, which users could access without having to download any application.
With Clean Up, users will be able to select an area of a photo using a brush tool and remove specific objects from an image. In internal versions of the app, testers can also adjust the brush size to make it easier to remove smaller or larger objects.
Apple is expected to present this feature during WWDC24 where all the new operating systems will be presented. It is expected that AI will have a very important presence in the next generations of iOS, iPadOS and macOS. Apple has already published several AI models and there is talk of possible partnerships with large companies in the industry such as OpenAI or Google.
